SSB BART Group Reaches Semi-Finals for the 2004 New Ability Awards Gala

In July 2004, SSB BART Group announced that they had been selected as a semi-finalist for the esteemed 2004 New Ability Awards. The organizers of these awards, the New Freedom Foundation, have taken a proactive leadership role in America's commitment to people who have a disability. The New Freedom Foundation's mission is to inspire the creation of new abilities and improve the quality of life for those people who have a disability, through educational programs, public awareness campaigns, research grants and scholarships.

Since the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in July 1990 and President Bush's New Freedom Initiative in February 2001, thousands of individuals and organizations have stepped forward to create new freedoms for people with disabilities. The efforts of those individuals and organizations have had dramatic results for the more than 57 million Americans with disabilities, yet those efforts remain under-funded and unheralded. The New Freedom Foundation was formed to unify those efforts into a new industry - the "New Ability" Industry.

SSB BART Group reached the semi-finals in the category of Best New Ability Publication or Website Award. This award honors the 'most robust and far-reaching book, magazine, newsletter, article or other publication or website that assists people who have a disability and that take the extra effort to make the information accessible to those who need it most.'
